Open Netflix hidden genre codes

Netflix files everything into narrow sub-genres that never surface on the home screen. Each one has a number, and you reach it by putting that number after https://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/ in a browser while signed in.

The 105 codes below were last checked against outside sources on 2026-08-19. Netflix does not document these publicly, so any of them can disappear without notice.

Main genres

Top-level codes that match the main rows on the Netflix home screen. Start here, then narrow down with the sub-genre codes below. Action & Adventure 1365, Anime 7424, Children & Family 783, Classic Movies 31574, Comedies 6548, Cult Movies 7627, Documentaries 6839, Dramas 5763, Faith & Spirituality 26835, International Movies 7462, Horror Movies 8711, Independent Movies 7077, LGBTQ Movies 5977, Music & Musicals 1701, Romantic Movies 8883, Sci-Fi & Fantasy 1492, Sports Movies 4370, Thrillers 8933, TV Shows 83, 90-Minute Movies 81466194

Korean (5685)

Korean content is split across two codes — one for films, one for series. These pull far more reliably than typing "Korean" into Netflix search. Korean Movies 5685, Korean TV Shows 67879

Horror (8711)

Horror is the most finely divided genre on Netflix. Picking "slasher" or "supernatural" gets you much closer than searching for something scary. Horror Movies 8711, Slasher and Serial Killer Movies 8646, Supernatural Horror Movies 42023, Zombie Horror Movies 75405, Monster Movies 947, Vampire Horror Movies 75804, Werewolf Horror Movies 75930, Satanic Stories 6998, Cult Horror Movies 10944, Deep Sea Horror Movies 45028, Teen Screams 52147, Horror Comedy 89585, Foreign Horror Movies 8654, Sci-Fi Horror Movies 1694

Thrillers (8933)

Easy to confuse with horror, but a different feel. Supernatural thrillers (11140) and psychological thrillers (5505) are the two people mix up most. Thrillers 8933, Psychological Thrillers 5505, Crime Thrillers 10499, Action Thrillers 43048, Spy Thrillers 9147, Political Thrillers 10504, Supernatural Thrillers 11140, Sci-Fi Thrillers 11014, Independent Thrillers 3269, Classic Thrillers 46588, Foreign Thrillers 10306, Steamy Thrillers 972

Sci-Fi & Fantasy (1492)

Sci-fi and fantasy share one bucket, so the parent code (1492) returns a mix of both. Use 9744 if you only want fantasy. Sci-Fi & Fantasy 1492, Alien Sci-Fi 3327, Sci-Fi Adventure 6926, Sci-Fi Dramas 3916, Sci-Fi Thrillers 11014, Sci-Fi Horror Movies 1694, Action Sci-Fi & Fantasy 1568, Fantasy Movies 9744, Classic Sci-Fi & Fantasy 47147, Cult Sci-Fi & Fantasy 4734, Foreign Sci-Fi & Fantasy 6485, Comic Book and Superhero Movies 10118

Comedies (6548)

Romantic comedies (5475) and stand-up specials (11559) are the two most-used codes in this group. Comedies 6548, Romantic Comedies 5475, Stand-up Comedy 11559, Dark Comedies 869, Satires 4922, Slapstick Comedies 10256, Mockumentaries 26, Political Comedies 2700, Sports Comedies 5286, Late Night Comedies 1402, Horror Comedy 89585, Foreign Comedies 4426

Anime (7424)

On Netflix, "Anime (7424)" mostly means Japanese animation. Films (3063) and series (6721) have separate codes, which is handy. Anime 7424, Anime Series 6721, Anime Features 3063, Anime Action 2653, Anime Comedies 9302, Anime Dramas 452, Anime Fantasy 11146, Anime Sci-Fi 2729, Anime Horror 10695, Adult Animation 11881, Animal Tales 5507

Adult (11781)

Netflix has no adults-only menu. These codes gather steamy and adult-audience titles. On a kids profile the lists may look empty — that is the restriction working. Steamy Romance 11781, Steamy Romantic Movies 35800, Steamy Thrillers 972, Adult Animation 11881

Kids by age (783)

The most reliable way to browse by age on Netflix. Note that a code only decides what gets listed — it is not a block. For a child's account, set viewing restrictions on the profile itself. Children & Family Movies 783, Movies for ages 0 to 2 6796, Movies for ages 2 to 4 6218, Movies for ages 5 to 7 5455, Movies for ages 8 to 10 561, Movies for ages 11 to 12 6962

Documentaries (6839)

Crime documentaries (9875) and nature/science documentaries (2595) have the deepest catalogues here. Documentaries 6839, Crime Documentaries 9875, Science & Nature Documentaries 2595, Biographical Documentaries 3652, Historical Documentaries 5349, Social & Cultural Documentaries 3675, Music & Concert Documentaries 90361, Political Documentaries 7018, Military Documentaries 4006, Sports Documentaries 180, Travel & Adventure Documentaries 1159, Foreign Documentaries 5161

자주 묻는 질문

How do I enter a Netflix code?

Sign in first, then type https://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/ followed by the code number into your browser address bar. The mobile app has nowhere to enter a code, so you need a web browser.

I entered a code and it sent me back to the home screen.

That usually means the code has been retired, or a digit is wrong. Netflix redirects silently either way, so try the parent genre code — if that opens, the digits were fine and the specific code is gone.

Do codes let me watch other countries’ catalogues?

No. A code only reorders what your account can already stream. It does not unlock titles from another region.

Can I use codes in the mobile app?

Not in the app itself. Open Netflix in your phone browser and enter the address the same way you would on a computer.

Are these codes official?

No. Netflix has never published this list, so it is community-maintained. Every code here was confirmed against at least two outside sources, and the set was last verified on 2026-08-19.
